Most likely with a very big bang! All the scientific evidence suggests this and we can work out what happened just before the big bang but nobody knows what happened just before and nobody knows where the material came from to make this happen or exactly why it happened. i am not an expert in this bit of science but it is one of the biggest questions that some scientists are trying to answer. Maybe there is no way for us to ever know.

      Hi andreokokokyehyeh,
This is a huge, very important question. You will probably get fuller answers from the scientists in the Quantum zone and the Evolution zone. I personally agree with Craig, that the world started with a huge explosion, as it seems that that is what all the scientific evidence points to.
The BBC have a nice website about it where you can find out more: http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/space/universe/questions_and_ideas/big_bang/

My world began when I was born. I try not to think too much about life, the universe and everything as it sends my brain to mush… but there are lots of scientists on here that get very excited about that sort of stuff, so I hope you find the answer you’re looking for 🙂

      Hello Andre,

For me to answer this question I would have to know whether you was religious and what religion you believed in. The theory of the worlds creation has multiple theories depending on what you believe in. If you was apart of the Norse way of life you may believe that a fire caused the melting of the ice mountains, this thawing of the mountains gave life to Ymir a god frozen in the ice, also a cow was thawed out and started to lick the ice mountains, the cow licked so much that the mountains thawed and a god and goddess was brought to life (most probably in suspended animation). Bor and this goddess had a son called Odin. Ymir became a nasty god and they all decided to slay him, his dead body became the earth, his blood became the sea, Odin then created the sky using his skull and the sun was created from sparks of the fire. The sun then melted the ice mountains bringing to life plants and trees. As Odin was walking he found two trees I think they were elm and ash, he then made a man and woman and breathed life into them giving them feelings and emotions.

This is also where the phrase ‘The Tree Of Life’ came from.

This is just one theory, we have egyptians, incas etc.

As you can see that theory is completely ludicrous (not the famous rapper) but people believe it. What is the most important factor is what theory do you believe in, it does not matter what we believe in, I could believe in the Spaghetti Monster but it is what you believe in that counts.

What theory do you believe in?

Interesting question this! I believe in the big bang theory of creation as Craig and Anna have mentioned, but I like Richard’s answer! He’s spot on in saying that for us, our world begins when we’re born. It’s an interesting answer from Shane too, and worth pointing out that there are other theories on how the world began that people believe in. I’m not especially religious myself, and I don’t see any scientific evidence for creationist theories, but I think it’s important to respect other people’s beliefs and their rights to believe what they choose to.
