Hi floydy97,
I have a few hobbies, that you’ll probably find really boring! 🙂 I like going to car boot sales and looking for bargains, I like walking my dog in the countryside, and baking cakes. I like travelling, seeing new places and watching wildlife. I used to like clubbing and dancing, but I’m not really into that so much any more. God, it makes me sound really old! I also like creative writing, which leads me to the next part of the question – I think if I wasn’t a scientist, I’d like to write novels for a living. Of course, they’d be crime novels though! 🙂

Hi floydy97,
You might find my hobbies a bit boring too! I’m a big snooker fan. I love to watch, especially Ronnie O’Sullivan – he’s very exciting, and to play too. If I weren’t a scientist, I’d love to have been able to play snooker for a living and be in the world championships at The Crucible in Sheffield.
I’m also a bit of a music nerd with a huge iTunes library that I’m obsessive about updating and reorganizing. You can check out my listening habits on Last.fm (I’m LilacLounge) although I haven’t listened so much this week because I’ve been concentrating on “I’m A Scientist.”
I’m a big fan of social media and spend a lot of time on Twitter, which was how I found out about I’m A Scientist in the first place. (I’m also LilacLounge on there…)
For the past 5 or 6 years, I’ve been learning Tai Chi. It’s like a martial art but not violent and is made up of lots of slow, exaggerated but graceful movements. I find it very relaxing and it’s a good way to wind down after a hard day.
Like Anna, I also love to write. I’ve written a few articles about forensic science for the ‘Defrosting Cold Cases’ website (I even wrote them a short piece about I’m A Scientist), and I too dabble with writing crime fiction, but I haven’t been brave enough to put any of my stories out there just yet. Maybe I will one day though.

Hello Floydy97,
My hobbies are playing guitar, bass and drums, composing music, scientific research, rollercoaster ( I am an epinephrine {adrenaline} junkie) [thank you adrenal glands]. If I was not a scientist I would be a website and logo designer, I am very creative and would carry on with making the internet look pretty.
What are your hobbies?

I love music… I have a huge music collection and often throw karaoke parties and host music quizzes.
I enjoy watching sport…. I support Everton in footie and Newport Gwent Dragons at rugby…. I also “enjoy” watching Wales.
I am often of Facebook and Twitter @TrickyCase on Twitter and have just started my own blog site http://www.trickycase.com, so I am always on the computer… and why I love this event !
Family and friends are really important in my life, and I try to spend as much time with them as possible 🙂

Hi floydy97,
I love going to music gigs and the cinema (i’m off to the edinburgh Film Festival soon). I love film festivals so much that sometimes i take a few weeks off to work as a member of staff at the film festival. It makes a good change sometimes!
Apart from that I do a lot of mountain biking and hillwalking (i live on the edge of the Cairngorms National park in Scotland and can see the big mountains from my living room). I also love travelling with just my rucksack and the open road. i think i will be off to Patagonia in South America sometime soon!
If i wasnt a scientist i think i would like to be involved in running a cinema or working for a film festival – in my dreams i would be a musician because I like bands like Radiohead, Arcade Fire, The Smiths and Belle and Sebastian. they seem to have a good life as musicians and they get to travel the world! This is just a dream though because i’m definitely rubbish at playing instruments but i’m very good at listening to it!

Sue, it depends what you mean by music nerd…. you are likely to be a cool music nerd… where I am more likely to fit in the category of cheesy music nerd 😀
I love loads of different kinds of music, and it was a real buzz when I moved “up north” as I was heavily into the indie scene of the early 90’s… such as The Stone Roses, The Charlatans etc….
But then I’m let down with my love of 80’s pop music…. but it helps in pop quizzes 🙂
